“Matylda” is a historical story about a young woman, Matylda, who, in the politically difficult times of partition after the January Uprising, becomes a pawn of landowner intrigues. Her past, which is also a mystery to herself, casts a shadow over the political decisions of both Polish patriots and traitors plotting with the Russian invader. According to the production description, in addition to its educational and historical values, the series contains rich thriller and love themes.
The production is to consist of 13 episodes. Currently, 10 episodes are available on the TVP streaming service, and the sixth episode will be shown on TVP1 next Sunday. In the title role of Matylda, we can see Maria Kowalska, who played Marysia Wilczurówna in the latest Netflix adaptation last year. The remaining roles are played by Dariusz Chojnacki, Grażyna Sobocińska, Ireneusz Czop and Jędrzej Hycnar. At the moment, it is not known whether there will be another season.
