The Podlasie idyll charmed Netflix viewers. Polish film is conquering the world, but few praise it

Netflix has been focusing heavily on local productions in recent years. At the end of last year, the website’s offer was dominated by the latest adaptation of “The Quack”, in which she starred, among others, Anna Szymañczyk. Now the next film with her participation is a hit. “Nothing by Force” is a romantic comedy that quickly reached the global Top 10 on Netflix. However, critics and viewers alike leave no stone unturned on the film.

In the past, Polish productions became known abroad when their creators or cast were nominated in international film awards. Today, it is enough for a film to appear on a large streaming platform, where users from every corner of the world can watch the production without leaving home.

Another Polish romantic comedy conquers Netflix. They even watch the film in Brazil

Netflix is a leader when it comes to promoting productions from the Vistula River abroad. . This time, however, the leader is the romantic comedy “Nothing by Force”, which appeared on the website just before Easter.

During the holiday weekend, the production became the most popular title in Hungary, the Dominican Republic, Brazil, Greece, Ukraine and also in Poland. However, in the global Top 10 foreign-language productions, the film came in second place. Over 11 million subscribers tuned in between March 25 and March 31.

“Nothing by Force” tells the story of Oliwia (Anna Szymańczyk), who is a chef in a big city. A lonely woman is tricked into a village in Podlasie to save her grandmother’s farm. There, she falls in love with a handsome farmer, Kuba (Mateusz Janicki), who hides a secret.

Popularity does not translate into quality. “I watched 14 minutes and I regret it very much”

However, both reviewers and viewers are uncritical of the film. One user wrote directly: “Another Polish film that turns off after the second minute of watching. This time I watched as many as 14 minutes because I was busy ironing my shirt for work, but I regret it very much. I had to go with it wrinkled.”

In turn, some journalists are surprised that we can see Anna Seniuk and Artur Barciś in the production, who in their opinion are “too highly qualified” for such poor productions. For many, the main role of Anna Szymańczyk is also surprising, as she delighted many viewers with her role as Zośka in the latest film adaptation of “The Quack”, which appeared on the streaming giant’s offer in the fall.

Many viewers say that the only thing they can praise the creators of this film for is the picturesque and idyllic scenery. In the production we can also admire the architecture of Podlasie. Some scenes were even shot in the open-air museum located on the premises of the Museum of Agriculture. Krzysztof Kluk in Ciechanowiec.
