The role of Lucy in “Ranczo” was a real gateway to a career for Ilona Ostrowska. However, work on the set was preceded by many months of preparations, during which she had to pay special attention to learning an American accent. Then Marcin Prokop’s wife came to her help.

The heroine was an American with Polish roots, and she came to the country on the Vistula River from the USA to sell a manor house inherited from her great-grandmother. However, she quickly noticed the potential of Wilkowyje, which prompted her to abandon her plan to cash in her estate and settle in a charming town.

However, it was not as simple as she initially assumed. The residents approached a new person in their small, hermetic community with great distance, so establishing any friendly relations or acquaintances turned out to be quite a challenge. However, the viewers quickly showed great sympathy for her and followed her fate and struggles with often difficult challenges that she constantly encountered on her way, wanting to gain acceptance and become part of the local community.

It cannot be denied that the role in Ilona Ostrowska was a real gateway to her career and the world of show business. Critics were particularly delighted with how authentically she managed to play an American, and many emphasized that her statements sounded as if she had actually spent many years overseas. This was influenced by, among others, an accent which, as it turned out, she had been systematically practicing for many months before starting work on the set.
