Chris Cross is dead. The creator of Ultravox was said a touching farewell by his bandmate

Ultravox musician Chris Cross has died. He died on March 25, but the information was made public only a few days later.

“We worked together, played together, created music and directed films together. We immediately became friends and partners at Ultravox. Even after years of separation, we managed to pick up where we left off, as if those years in between had never existed,” wrote his friend from the band Midge Ure.

Ultravox was a pioneer of new romantic

Chris Cross died at the age of 71. He joined the band, known to millions as Ultravox, when the group was called Tiger Lily, in 1974 – he was the first person to respond to John Foxx’s advertisement. After releasing their first album, the group achieved popularity and took good places on the charts. Their greatest success was the album “Vienna”. Many people certainly remember the title song from this album or their other hit titled “Dancing with Tears in My Eyes”.

The Ultravox band is considered one of the creators of the new romantic style. Founded in the 1970s, from 2009 it operated again in its old line-up for several years, although most of the members left in the mid-1980s. Sam Cross, whose real name was Christopher Thomas Allen, decided to say goodbye to his teammates in 1987, but then played with them from 2009 to 2013. “You were the glue that held the band together (…) It was great to meet you and grow with you. You are a beloved and much missed old friend,” added a colleague from Ultravox, saying goodbye to the bassist.
