In 1980, Krzysztof Pieczyński graduated from the Krakow theater school and immediately started his career. He went to Warsaw, where he got a job at the Powszechny Theater and the role of Bronek Talar in the series. Viewers quickly fell in love with him, and directors appreciated his potential, casting him in subsequent productions.
He gave up his career to fulfill his American dream. Then he sold hot dogs
After only 5 years of activity on the Polish scene, Pieczyński came up with the idea to go to the USA. This was not approved by his wife, Barbara, who was still a medical student at the time. When the final decision was made, she decided to go with him. – Everyone in the world is drawn to Hollywood. I haven’t received any offers from Hollywood. I went there at my own risk, what’s more, I didn’t even know anyone there. I didn’t know the language either, and yet I wanted to come into contact with this magical land – in “Stopklatka”.
The beginnings were not at all the fulfillment of his dreams, especially since only a month after his departure his journey became history. – I do not continue relationships indefinitely, in which I feel even more lonely than when I am alone – he later said in “Gala”. He also did not feel fulfilled professionally. First he sold hot dogs, then he worked in an employment agency. Eventually, he managed to land a few cameo roles in both theater and television, but he still had ambitions for more than the industry had to offer.
The role in “For Good and for Bad” was a breakthrough for him. Pieczyński went abroad again 4 years ago
After a decade, Pieczyński decided to return to his homeland. He was under the illusion that reactivating his career would be easy, but the reality turned out to be completely different. He had to re-establish his position in the industry by attending numerous castings. Finally, he received the role of Bruno Walicki in the series, which he played for 4 years, causing quite a sensation among viewers. Then he also starred in the war drama “Far from the Window”, for which he was awarded the Eagle, as well as in the cult “The Pianist” and “Out of Reach” alongside Steven Seagal.
Nowadays, people talk more about his controversial statements about politics or faith than about his professional achievements. In one of the interviews, Pieczyński thundered that the Church is the “owner of Poland” and Poles do not react to the crimes committed by it. Two years later, he fell victim to an attack by a stranger who kicked him and called him a “faggot” because, as he claimed, he was wearing a red jacket. Finally, in 2020, just before the outbreak of the pandemic, he left for the USA again and settled in New York.
