There was a time when you knew all your neighbors in the area. You could have a chat in the stairwell with a nice old lady living on the floor below, exchange pleasantries in the elevator with a neighbor walking his dog, or ask about the health of someone else you knew at least by sight. Today, in large housing estates, residents are more anonymous, and many of them go out of town on weekends, to their family homes. You can no longer hear in the stairwell: “Hello! How are you?!”
A woman complains about the behavior of her neighbors
One of the readers wrote to the editorial office of nazwa.gazeta.pl, who decided to share her frustration with the behavior of her neighbors and appeal to others to pay attention to the principles of good manners in contacts with neighbors. “I have lived in the same block for 25 years, so most of our neighbors are with us – at least by sight. We always greet each other, sometimes we have a short chat” – writes Mrs. Alicja from Nowy Sącz (name for editorial information). “It’s not like that with everyone. The younger ones who moved in a few years ago are a completely different breed of neighbors. Even though we know each other well by sight, they go and even Good morning They won’t tell.”

“Shame, once upon a time it would have been unthinkable”
Mrs. Alicja assures that none of her adult children behave like this. “I always raised my children with great respect for older people, they always shouted hello to neighbors from a distance, let them pass at the door, helped carry shopping, etc.” – ensure. “And today? Complete lack of culture. Why do we no longer raise children with kindness and sympathy? Why, following our example, do they look away when they see a neighbor walking in the opposite direction?” – he asks. “Maybe it’s worth considering. Such two simple words cost nothing, and how much they change the image of a person and his atmosphere in the common space of an elevator, corridor or staircase… Once upon a time, the housing estate was a community and the residents were its members. Today, are they intruders?” – he adds. “Parents, teach your children to be kind” – pozna.gazeta.pl appeals to the readers.
