– My hero has a lot of tattoos and one is dedicated to him – Jake Gyllenhaal in an interview with BBC One about Patrick Swayze. The actor has no tattoos, all of them were applied by specialists every morning before shooting.
Jake Gyllenhaal: Patrick Swayze always had time for me
– I wanted to have him with me in some way, his energy, and include him in this film. He was one of a kind. He was very nice and supported me at the beginning of my career – recalled the actor. He added that he was not allowed to reveal what this unique tattoo looks like during the interview, but if the viewer freezes the frame at the right moment, he will be able to find it while watching the film.
In another interview, the actor even mentions that there are more such tattoos. Gyllenhall and Swayze collaborated on the 2001 film “Donnie Darko.” Seven years later, the actor known from such films as “Dirty Dancing” and “Ghost” was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Despite undergoing surgery, Swayze died on the night of September 14-15, 2009. Shortly before the premiere of “Road House” on Amazon Prime Video, Gyllenhaal posted a photo together from years ago and wrote about Swayze:
I think back to when I worked with Patrick on “Donnie Darko” and watch this great man again in the original “Road House” [polski tytuł filmu z 1989 roku to ‘Wykidajło’ – red.] and many other films. I never stopped being a fan. He had a huge talent and I still have great respect and admiration for what he created and released into the world. I will never forget the kindness he showed me when I was starting out – he didn’t have to put in the time, but he always did. We did a different version of ‘Road House’ this time, but we hope you enjoy watching it!
In the new version of “Bouncers”, the UFC champion fights with Gyllenhaal
Gyllenhall plays a character based on the character from the 1989 film. “Road House” is not a sequel, but a new version of the story in which Swayze played. Jake Gyllenhaal showed incredible muscles as Dalton. The actor admitted that he had always been in good shape, but this appearance cost him two months of very intense training.
His screen partner is debutant Conor McGregor. The UFC champion followed in the footsteps of many other fighters who tried their hand at the big screen. These include, among others: Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, who played BA Baracus in the 2010 film “The A-Team”, Georges St-Pierre (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) and Randy Couture, who could be seen, among others, in several parts of “The Expendables”.
