The first Pooh movie was called a disaster. The second one surprisingly gets good reviews

“Pooh: Blood and Honey” was considered by many to be the worst film of 2023. The sinister version of the childhood character loved by people all over the world did not win the hearts of viewers either. But the second part may be completely different. The first reviews of the production are extremely positive.

Nowadays, film producers are much more willing to focus on quantity rather than quality. That’s why most of us are used to the fact that every year a lot of productions appear on cinema screens, which ultimately are not appreciated by either reviewers or viewers.

Reviewers from all over the world thundered that “Pooh: Blood and Honey” is the worst film of 2023

Last year, one of the worst-reviewed films was “Pooh: Blood and Honey.” On Rotten Tomatoes, critics “awarded” the production with only three percent on the freshness scale, which is one of the worst results in the history of this renowned website.

However, poor ratings did not make the creators of the horror film about the deadly Winnie the Pooh decide to stop with the first part. The second part will soon appear in cinemas, in which the forest heroes want to take final revenge on Christopher in the town of Ashdown.

The announcements mentioned that the film cost much more than the first part, whose budget was only PLN 50,000. dollars. The creators invested as much as one million dollars in “Pooh: Blood and Honey 2”, which is expected to result in much higher quality compared to its predecessor.

The reviews of the second part are much better. Although not everyone is crowing with delight

The world premiere of the second part took place last Tuesday and the first reviews of the film are astonishing. On the previously mentioned website, we can already find ten reviews of “Pooh: Blood and Honey 2” and eight of them are positive, which makes the title 80% fresh.

This is cinema at its most punk rock – noisy, unpolished, cheap, holy cow middle fingering its way into the mainstream, with enough raw talent inside to make it impossible to dismiss – writes Luke Y. Thompson from the AV Club website.

However, Owen Gleiberman from , has a different opinion, who wrote that he could follow the path of the other reviewers and write that “part 2 is better than part 1” because it has a larger budget, but in his opinion it would be insufficient. He believes that the film is as chaotic as the first part and is very long.

“Very ‘Island of Lost Souls’ style, except this story is completely at odds with the one told, following AA Milne’s drawings, in the first film,” noted the reviewer. At the end, however, he concluded that director Rhys Frake-Waterfield is a “clever and ambitious creator”, even if his work makes the infamous directors Herschell Gordon Lewis and Ed Wood look like Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg to him.

We will have to wait for the Polish premiere of the production, because the film will be shown in our cinemas only from May 31, 2024. But we can expect more of this type of production in the future. The creator recently announced grand plans to create another film from this universe. In 2025, “Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble” will debut, in which the main characters will be sinister versions of characters from children’s fairy tales. In addition to Pooh, we will also see characters such as: Bambi, Peter Pan, Tinker Bell, Pinocchio, Tigger, Piglet, Mad Hatter and Sleeping Beauty.
