They wanted two thousand each. We know how much TVP will give employees in Easter allowance

Telewizja Polska agreed with trade unions on the payment of Easter allowances to employees. The unions sought PLN 2,000, but the employees will not see this amount.

Although it is undergoing a difficult bankruptcy process and depoliticizing itself after eight years of PiS rule, money has been found to pay Easter allowances for employees. Full-time employees will receive Christmas bonuses. The portal determined the amount of the benefit to be paid.

Telewizja Polska reached an agreement with the unions on Easter benefits for employees

Before each holiday, trade unions seek supplements to employees’ salaries. In recent years, TVP authorities most often agreed to their requests, although sometimes, as in 2022, some demands were not met – for example, a Christmas allowance was granted, but not an inflation allowance. This was explained at the time by the demand “beyond the company’s budget.”

Regardless of the change of government at TVP, the three largest trade unions at Telewizja Polska won Christmas allowances for full-time employees in 2023. Now they have also called for an Easter allowance for 2024. As we read in Wirtualne Media, it was successful, although it will not be the amount demanded by the unions. Twice a year, trade unionists propose that Christmas bonuses be paid in the amount of PLN 2,000. In recent years, TVP agreed, but reduced the amount. This year for Easter it will not be this high either. Full-time employees at Telewizja Polska will receive holiday allowances of PLN 1,300. PLN gross.

We asked for a higher benefit. However, we took into account that in the current circumstances the employer may not grant it at all. We are glad that the benefit is available at all – says Bogdan Wiśniewski from TVP Solidarność in an interview with Wirtualne Media.

Polish Television in liquidation and reform

At the end of last year, public media – TVP, Polskie Radio and PAP – were put into liquidation. This was related to the president’s veto of the budget-related bill. Regardless of the fact that Andrzej Duda signed the act a month later (and at the same time referred it to the Constitutional Tribunal), the media are still in liquidation. More and more branches are being closed down, editorial offices are undergoing changes, budgets are being cut and programs are being deleted.
