It pays to be a disco polo star. How much do the biggest players in the industry charge for a concert?

In recent years, thanks to the support of TVP, disco polo has been elevated to the rank of national music. As the popularity grew, the range of musicians performing this type of work grew. How much can they charge for a concert?

Zenek Martyniuk, Boys, Sławomir… The last few years have been a real bounty for disco polo music creators. However, its presence on public television has been partially limited, but disco polo still dominates at parties all over Poland. How much do musicians earn for concerts? These are considerable amounts of money – if you would like them to play to your chops, e.g. at a wedding, be prepared to spend a lot.

Zenek Martyniuk, Sławomir… How much do disco polo musicians earn per concert?

The undisputed king of the disco polo scene has been Zenon Martyniuk for years. There’s even a movie about himself. The vocalist performing with the band Akcent gives concerts virtually every weekend and, according to various estimates, can expect to pay from PLN 35,000 per performance. Wyborcza24.pl recently estimated his annual earnings at over PLN 7 million.

Musicians from Boys, Weekend, Bayer Full, as well as the group Piękni i Młodzi are equally highly appreciated. The earnings of these artists are approximately PLN 30,000-35,000 per concert (data from elektroartystow.pl). Sławomir turns out to be slightly cheaper than them (from PLN 27,000). You have to pay around 20-25 thousand to Czadomen, the Classic group or Daj To G Głosniej.

However, these sums are still lower than many artists performing other types of music. Prices for the Afromental group start from PLN 37,000 per concert, Agnieszka Chyliñska’s – from PLN 40,000, Cleo – PLN 45,000. And that’s not the end. Bands that have been on the market since the 1980s are even more expensive.

One term reigns supreme

Regardless of the above prices, one date is the most important for all artists during the year. It’s New Year’s Eve, of course. The rates for a New Year’s Eve concert are growing at least exponentially, and sometimes for a performance on December 31, the organizers pay several times the standard rate – for a performance at the “New Year’s Eve of Dreams”, TVP paid Martyniuk over PLN 100,000 in 2021. The profit from such a concert does not, of course, go solely to the account of the individual performing artist. These are the amounts that are distributed among everyone working around the organization of the performance
