More than four years after the project was announced, Searchlight Pictures (Disney) has confirmed the start of filming of ‘A complete unknown’, a film about Bob Dylan directed by James Mangold, directing films such as ‘Eternal Heroes: Indiana Jones and Harrison Ford’ and ‘Night and Day’. The biopic will star Timothée Chalamet.
“I’ve been dreaming about this movie for almost five years so I can’t wait to start shooting“, Mangold said in statements contained in an official statement released this Tuesday by Disney. In it, the director of ‘Walk the line’ – the biopic about Johnny Cash– thanks Dylan and Jeff Rosen, his manager, the support provided to portray “a crucial moment of our culture and populated by absolutely unique artists and characters.
Filming has started in New Jersey and will continue during the month of June, with a cast that also includes Edward Norton, Elle Fanning and Monica Barbaro, among others. The networks have begun to spread the first images of the filming, with which they have praised the actor’s resemblance to the artist.
The script is by Mangold and Jay Cocks. Set in the New York music scene of early 60’s‘A Complete Unknown’ follows the rise of 19-year-old Minnesota musician Bob Dylan from a folk singer to concert halls and the top of the charts.
Their songs and mystique became a worldwide phenomenon that culminated in their groundbreaking electric rock performance at the Newport Folk Festival in 1965.
