How often do you replace your razor? Blades don’t last forever, but pay attention to that too

When was the last time you changed your razor? This is an extremely important issue that many of us forget about. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes that the duller the blades, the greater the probability that the shave will be imprecise, you will cut yourself and cause irritation.

There are many methods of removing body hair. Some people use special epilators and laser treatments. Others use razors. To ensure hygienic depilation, it is essential to remember to replace the blades regularly. Otherwise, we may face unpleasant consequences.

How long can you use a razor? See how often to change the blades

A classic razor should be enough for five to a maximum of seven shaves, although this is completely dependent. Each time you use the blade to shave your body or face, it will become less sharp over time. The duller it becomes, the harder it will pull on the skin to cut the hair, and the less close the shave will be. A dull blade moving across increases the likelihood of irritation and rash, so it’s important to replace it regularly and at the right time. Approximate time is:

  • If you shave every day, replace your blade every 1-2 weeks.
  • If you shave every other day, replace your blade every 2-3 weeks.
  • If you shave twice a week, replace your blade every 4 to 6 weeks.

However, if we notice rust or visible damage to the blade, e.g. jagged edges or dents, and after shaving you start to notice ingrown hairs, redness, irritation or lumps then we should replace the razor immediately.

How to extend the durability of razor blades? This is how you extend the life of your razor

Hair texture and shaving frequency affect the durability of your razor blade, but proper care can help keep your blades fresh and sharp for longer.

  • Make sure your skin is well moisturized. Wet hair can be removed more easily and with less friction during shaving than dry hair. More friction causes the blade to become dull faster.
  • Prevent shaving gel residue and cut hairs from drying between the razor blades.
  • Clean the blade and allow it to dry completely after shaving.
