Artur ¯mijewski is one of the most popular actors in the domestic film industry. Over the years, he has appeared in many productions on the small and big screen, but he owes particular recognition to his roles in such TV hits as “Father Mateusz”. Even though Żmijewski’s career has been developing dynamically for over 40 years, it has never been more important to him than his family. In 1992, the actor married his high school sweetheart, Paulina, with whom he had three children: daughter Ewa and sons Karol and Wiktor. It is no secret that he grew up in a broken family. When he was only 8 years old, his parents separated and he left home. Then his mother and his brother Grzegorz took full care of him, trying to reconcile parental duties with paid work. This greatly influenced his approach to life and forced him to grow up faster than his peers. – From a young age, I have had a sense of responsibility that blocks madness. For example, I never allowed myself to fail something that was planned – he admitted openly in Playboy.
Moreover, he had no contact with his father throughout his childhood and knew him almost exclusively from photos preserved in the family album. Once upon a time, however, there was an accidental meeting which, as he recalled in an interview with “Nalive”, was far from what he had imagined. – My father quickly started a new family. I once met him in a park in Radzymin. The meeting was cold, without tenderness – he said, adding that he had a grudge against him for a long time because he was not interested in him or his brother. Later, they had the opportunity to talk several more times, but they failed to rebuild the bond that had been lost before the man’s death.
