However, reality quickly verified this, because they are still inhabited and it does not seem that anything will change in this matter in the near future. How long will Poles be able to live in them?
How many people live in prefabricated blocks of flats? They are still very popular

Importantly, the blocks were built very quickly. Their popularity still does not wane, even though many years have passed. But what can we expect in the next ones? It turns out that time takes its toll and construction standards change.

According to the website, residents do not have to worry about the technical condition of the buildings, as they are regularly inspected in terms of quality and safety. Despite this, more and more of them require thorough revitalization. We are talking about, among other things, thermal modernization, but also about strengthening the blocks. Although many people are afraid to live in such a place, the low price of apartments and the attractive location are still tempting. Blocks of flats were often built in central points of cities.
What will happen to the large slab blocks? They were supposed to be ready for demolition
Over the last several dozen years, fewer apartments have been built in Poland than expected, so it is not possible to completely replace prefabricated apartments with them. Theoretically, most of such buildings should have already been demolished (according to the designers of the time, they were supposed to stand for no more than 50-70 years), but you can still buy apartments in them and move in. According to a study conducted by the Building Research Institute, most buildings after modernization can be used for up to 100-120 years, i.e. even until 2080.
