In “The Three-Body Problem”, one of the main characters dies. “Killing friends is cool”

David Benioff and DB Weiss have managed to accustom “Game of Thrones” fans to the creative and sudden deaths of the main characters of the series. In their latest project, co-produced with Alexander Woo, characters also die who, as it might seem, should have made it to the final.

Warning: this text will contain information that may spoil the pleasure of watching the series “”. The premiere of the latest production took place last Thursday. If you haven’t watched the series past the third episode yet, you may not want to spoil the viewing. Be doubly warned, because in this text you will find plot details that are not in the book.

Netflix. In “The Three-Body Problem”, one of the main characters dies

Benioff and Weiss in “Game of Thrones”, together with George RR Martin, were generous with their deaths, dealing fatal blows left and right. In total, almost seven thousand people died in the HBO hit, including a large group of the main characters. Suffice it to mention that recordings of viewers who have not read Martin’s books and see the decapitation of Ned Stark at the very end of the first season are still a hit on the Internet.

The creators of “Game of Thrones” liked murder so much that they now used the same trick in “The Three-Body Problem.” If you’ve already watched the third episode, you know that Jack Rooney is murdered in his own home. This may be a shock for many, because John Bradley, who played his role, seemed to be the main character of the series for a long time. It was quickly proven that this would not be the case.

Despite this, the actor stayed on the set for virtually the entire shooting time. In an interview with Empire, Alexander Woo recalls that Bradley was present all the time:

Killing him was probably one of the last things we shot. He was constantly needed on the set, we were constantly shooting scenes with him.

When asked about the meaning of Jacek’s death, David Benioff did not hide his amusement:

“Killing your friends from the set is great, it’s one of the best pleasures,” he said. He added that as Samwell Tarly in “Game of Thrones”, John Bradley survived to the end of the series – unlike many, many other characters.

Netflix. The series “The Three-Body Problem” changes the original book

The TV series version of “The Three-Body Problem” made a big difference in the plot known to fans of the book. The character of Jack Rooney is created from scratch and serves only to consolidate the group of friends around his death. Rooney is one of the most expressive characters on the show. His sharp tongue and caustic comments disarm the slightly pompous atmosphere between the talented friends. He also becomes one of the first real victims in humanity’s war against the aliens.
