The cinema classic from the 1980s will return to cinema screens in the summer of 2025. We’re talking about “The Naked Gun”, a series of comedy films starring Leslie Nielsen. Paramount Pictures has just announced a reboot of the production. Dan Gregor and Doug Mand are working on the script for the film.

So far, little is known about the production itself. This time, Liam Neeson, known from films such as “Schindler’s List”, “Ultimatum” and “Detective Marlowe”, will play the role of an eccentric policeman. There were also rumors circulating online about the alleged involvement of Sandra Hüller, who recently starred in the two-Oscar-winning “Business Zone,” in the production. The actress would play the role of the main character’s partner. However, the rumors about Hüller’s participation turned out to be false. It is also known that the director of the new installment of “The Naked Gun” is Akiva Schaffer, whose credits include such productions as “Neighbors” and “Even Bigger Children.”
The original “The Naked Gun” was based on the TV series “Police Squad!”. The production is a classic parody of detective films from the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. The first part of the series, “The Naked Gun: From the Files of the Special Branch”, was released in cinemas in 1988. Another one, titled “The Naked Gun 2½: Who Will Defend the President?” was first released three years later. In addition to Leslie Nielsen, Priscilla Presley, George Kennedy and OJ Simpson also starred.
