Mêskie Granie with a new song. Brodka and Igo sing “I’m thinking, ¯”

Mêskie Granie celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. On this occasion, in addition to the obligatory annual festival anthem, it was decided to record a remake of the 1988 classic. Brodka and Igo sang “I’m thinking, ¯” – a new version of “Before it happens as if nothing had ever happened” VOO VOO.

“Before it happens as if nothing had ever happened” is a must-see for the vast majority of Polish rock music festivals. The song from 1988 has undergone many remakes, and on the first day of spring 2024, the latest one saw the light of day. It’s “I’m thinking, Ż” performed by Monika Brodka and Igor Walaszek.

The remake under a new name is a refreshed musical interpretation of the song “Nim się, as if nothing had never been done” by Wojtek Waglewski, who composed and sang it with VOO VOO over 30 years ago. Since then, the hit has become a classic, performed by various singers (Katarzyna Nosowska’s version is probably the best known). Brodka and Igo announce the upcoming Mêskie Granie tour with their “I’m thinking, Ż”. It is not yet an anthem, but the first element in the celebration of the 15th anniversary of the festival.

The refreshed song is naturally accompanied by a music video. A keen eye will surely notice Waglewski himself, who appeared as a guest for a few seconds.

Years ago, Waglewski told Trójka that the cult song initially had a completely different ending – much darker than today:

This song, quite specific, its prototype was quite dramatic. The first version ended in total apocalypse because it was actually about Chernobyl. I was looking at people sunbathing in the sun at that time, there was still talk about everything that was happening there, and I had a ghostly vision. Over time, this song became the most cheerful song in our repertoire. We cut off the end at our own request and I think it sounds nicer this way (…). And in general, the world without disasters like Chernobyl also looks better – said Wojciech Waglewski.
