More about the new “Shogun”
In the new “Shogun”, Hiroyuki Sanada plays Lord Yoshii Toranaga, who must fight for his life when his enemies from the Council of Regents unite against him. At the same time, a ship with English navigator John Blackthorne on board appears on the coast of one of the Japanese fishing villages. The fate of Toranaga and Blackthorne is inextricably linked with their translator, Toda Mariko (Anna Sawai) – a mysterious Christian noblewoman and the last representative of a disgraced family.
The production, which can be seen in Poland from February 27, stars award-winning Japanese actors and actresses, including Tadanobu Asano as Kashigi Yabushige, a close ally of Toranaga. Hiroto Kanai is the series’ Kashigi Omi, the young leader of the fishing village where Blackthorne’s ship was found, and Takehiro Hira appears as Ishido Kazunari, a powerful bureaucrat who is Toranaga’s main rival. Who else will star in “Shogun”? Among others, Moeka Hoshi as Usami Fuji, a widow who must find a new calling in the face of her master’s struggle, and Fumi Nikaido as Ochiba no Kata, the heir’s respected mother who will stop at nothing to put an end to Toranaga standing in her son’s path to victory. power.
