Warriors of Mary is a men’s community that was founded in 2015 by the Salesian priest Fr. Dominik Chmielewski. The group consists of men aged 18-50. They claim that they are shaped by Our Lady and that she prepares them for the role of husbands and fathers. Currently, the spiritual guardian of the community is Fr. Piotr Pączkowski. During the Men’s Way of the Cross, they walked through the streets of Krakow to atone for their sins, the sins of their wives and families.
Mary’s warriors took to the streets
The Men’s Way of the Cross was an initiative of men’s groups operating in the Archdiocese of Krakow, i.e. the Knights of St. John Paul II, Knights of Columbus, Men of St. Joseph, Men’s Rosary, Warriors of Mary. Its route ran from the Corpus Christi Basilica to the Main Square.

The men walked through the streets of two districts: Kazimierz and the Old Town, to end the march in St. Mary’s Basilica on the Main Square. The road was not only intended to commemorate the suffering of Jesus Christ, but was also associated with the celebration of the patron saint of men, fathers, husbands and families – Saint. Joseph, which falls on March 19. Prayers were devoted to penance and compensation for the sins of the march participants and their families. According to Gazeta Krakowska, several hundred people were supposed to take part in the event.
“Where are the women?”
The Basilica of Corpus Christi in Krakow published a report from the march on its Facebook profile. There were over 300 comments under the video. There was both praise and criticism among them.
“Bravo for real men, thanks to whom there is hope for a better tomorrow in this upside down world”, “Bravo, gentlemen”, “Beautiful testimony” – we read among the opinions. However, there were also voices of people skeptical about the initiative. “The Middle Ages”, “I have nothing against prayer, but where are the women? Are they not people? Jesus didn’t suffer on the cross for them?” – others pointed out.
