The series “” has become one of the most frequently watched Polish productions on streaming platforms in our country. . Meanwhile, Kordian Kądziela undertook the difficult task of working on two fronts at the same time. Not only is he the director of the new season of “1670”, but he is also working on his own film, which we will see in cinemas next year.
Kordian Kądziela is making his own film after “1670”.
According to the Eska website, Kordian Kądziela started looking for extras for the set of his latest film. It is to be a full-length version of one of his first productions from 2014, titled “LARP”. “LARP” from 10 years ago lasted only 28 minutes, and now viewers will receive a much expanded version of the short film. According to preliminary plans, filming is to begin soon and the effects will be seen in cinemas in 2025. The premiere of the second part of “1670” is scheduled for the same year.
The short film “LARP” told the story of 17-year-old Sergiusz, whose passion for LARPs, i.e. role-playing games in the real world, is not understood by his loved ones. Sergiusz is far from his boxing brother, his father despises his hobby, his aunt hardly knows who he is. Meanwhile, for the boy, LARPs are more than just an escape from reality.
Will we see a similar plot in the full-length version of the film? It’s hard to say, but the gaming community certainly has high hopes for this project. There is very little talk about LARP in Poland, it is a niche hobby considered rather “frivolous”. And although we now socially accept people involved in historical reconstruction, soldering chain mail at night or sewing royal robes, those who play elven mages or paladins instead of knights still have to face malicious comments. Perhaps “LARP” could change that.
What are LARPs?
If you’ve ever played a computer game that had a plot and a main character, all you have to do is imagine the same game – live, in the real world. LARP is a type of role play game in which the player takes on the role of a character and, with the help of the game master, plays out an unknown scenario. If in “Stranger Things” a group of our heroes played a “paper” RPG and kept telling us what their characters were doing, and everything was controlled by the game master, in LARP we are these characters. The player has his own costume, and if there is a fight, he simulates it with a real opponent and tries to speak and behave like the person he is playing. To some extent, he also experiences her adventures in real life – of course, the killed dragon will still be “imaginary”, but archery shooting – not necessarily.
