Russia expelled, Zelenskiy honored. Tomasz Jêdruchów leaves TVP

Tomasz Jêdruchów, a long-time foreign correspondent of TVP, is leaving Telewizja Polska. In recent years, he was stationed in Prague, Czech Republic.

Tomasz Jędruchów has worked at Telewizja Polska for 13 years. He was an expert on the eastern side of Europe – he worked at a post in Ukraine, the Czech Republic and Russia. After Russia did not renew his accreditation for the post in Moscow, it transferred him to Prague, Czech Republic. However, under the new government, there was no place for the correspondent on Polish Television.

Tomasz Jędruchów leaves TVP

The website obtained confirmation from TVP regarding the correspondent’s employment status. Tomasz Jędruchoów will no longer be an employee of Telewizja Polska:

Telewizja Polska has ended cooperation with Tomasz Jędruchow – we read in the response of the television press office.

The reporter himself briefly and enigmatically mentioned what his plans were. It turns out that he is not giving up the media completely, but he will change the broadcaster:

I plan to use the acquired experience, skills, knowledge and contacts for another editorial office. 13 years of work at TVP include mainly four foreign missions, 5.5 years in Russia, 1.5 years in Ukraine. (…) I had the honor of becoming the second Polish correspondent in history, after Wacław Radziwinowicz, expelled by the authorities of the Russian Federation.

The conflict between the Polish media and the Russian authorities occurred in 2021. At that time, it was supposed to be the result of TVP’s critical materials about the situation in Russia – TVP consistently maintained the involvement of the Russian authorities in its original materials about the Smolensk disaster. Polish Television also showed Alexei Navalny’s film about Putin’s palace and provided information about his subsequent show trials. After Jędruchów lost his job at the facility by the decision of the Russian authorities, it was decided to transfer it to Kiev.

Tomasz Jędruchów has not only numerous reports from Russia, but also an interview with Volodymyr Zełenski (he was awarded the Order of Merit of the 3rd class by the President of Ukraine), reports from Asia, G20 and V4 summits, and materials from the Greek-Turkish border.

TVP lists correspondents in foreign missions

The absence of Tomasz Jędruchow is the result of profound changes in Public Television that have been taking place since the end of December last year. TVP has already got rid of most of its foreign correspondents. Employees were changed at branches in Paris (Maksymilian Maszenda), Berlin (Cezary Gmyz), Kiev (Piotr Kućma), Brussels (Dominika Ćosić), London (Dariusz Bohatkiewicz) and Washington (Rafał Stańczyk).
