Many predicted a spectacular career for Judith Barsi, but behind closed doors a real nightmare was unfolding. All because of her father, who is morbidly jealous of her successes. This led to a tragedy that shocked the entire film community.

Judith Eva Barsi was born on June 6, 1978 in Burbank, California. She was the only Hungarian emigrant, the plumber Jozsef Barsi and the waitress Maria Virovacz. As soon as she started speaking, her mother tried to teach her the correct pronunciation and accent. She wanted her daughter to have a better life and hoped that one day she would use her undeniable talent and become a big star.

The woman’s dreams began to come true when one day, while visiting the ice rink, Judith was noticed by a television crew. They immediately offered her cooperation and, at the age of only 5, she made her screen debut in Orange Juice. Her potential and skills were also appreciated by the film industry and she soon began to receive further offers. She has appeared in productions such as “The Twilight Zone”, “Remington Steele”, “The Love Ship” and “Kids, Trouble and Us”. However, her greatest popularity was brought by the animations “The Land of the Ancients” and “All Dogs Go to Heaven”, in which she proved herself as an actress.

When she appeared in “Eye of the Tiger” she was already a big child movie star. She received exorbitant rates for a one-off performance, and her income was estimated at over PLN 100,000. dollars per year. This allowed the family to purchase a luxurious estate in Los Angeles and significantly improve their quality of life. Although her mother was proud and happy about her daughter’s successes, her struggling father viewed her career in a completely different way.

Few knew that the girl who always smiled on the screen was privately going through a real nightmare. Jozsef Barsi had serious problems with alcohol and was morbidly jealous of her successes. As Judith’s career took off, his disturbing behavior increased and he became increasingly angry. He then threatened to kill his wife, and called his daughter a “spoiled brat” and many other less censorship epithets. He even harassed her while working on the set, calling her and saying that if she didn’t come home, he would cut her throat.

Concerned about the situation, Maria turned to non-governmental organizations for help, but they failed to act early enough, which ended. On July 27, 1988, the family’s neighbors called the police to report an explosion in their house. The services immediately arrived on site and found the dead parents and child in the burning building. Initially, it was thought to be an accident, but during the investigation shocking facts came to light. It turned out that Judith and her mother had been dead for two days, having been shot. In turn, the actress’s father doused himself with gasoline, then set the entire estate on fire and took his own life.
