The nuptials between the ex-queen and councilor of Quito with the chancellor of the San Francisco University took place over the weekend in an exclusive event.
The former queen of the capital, Macarena Valarezo, 49, married the Chancellor of the Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Santiago Gangotena, 76, in an intimate ceremony held on December 19, in Cumbayá, east of the city .

Gangotena is a businessman, doctor in Physics and holds a master’s degree in nuclear physics. In 1998 he founded the San Francisco de Quito University. The chancellor has been at the center of the controversy on several occasions, due to comments he has made, such as the one where he mentioned that only people who have property should be able to vote in elections.
