“1670” is the undisputed hit at the end of last year on Netflix. The fate of Jan PaweÅ‚ from Adamczycha will see a second season, which was announced just a week ago. Considering Netflix’s general approach to continuing or canceling series, the fate of “1670” is unique – it is a production that became a hit only in one country.
Netflix listened to fans of “1670”
This is a rare situation – Netflix decided to produce the second season of “1670” regardless of its global viewership results. The series was indeed a hit in Poland for a few long weeks, but abroad it was not so rosy. There, the peasants, i.e. the viewers, were not willing to work, and if “1670” hit the TOP10, it disappeared after one or two weeks.
So far, Netflix has become known as a platform for which the result is everything and the popularity of the series – nothing. The case of “1670” shows that there are exceptions to the rule. In Poland, according to statistics provided, among others, by the website, “1670” remained stable in the top ten most watched series for over two months – that’s a 100% increase. more time than viewers like to devote to productions they enjoy watching. Only a week ago, “1670” fell out of the list of the ten most watched series in our country, but it was in the TOP10 stably for 11 weeks.

Unfortunately, such popularity does not always translate into subsequent seasons of the show. For several years, Netflix has been guided by the principle of investing in local productions (hence the number of series from Poland), but their extension depends on the results they achieve also on the difficult international market. For the rather hermetic “1670” it was a challenge that the series did not meet. He managed to maintain interest (briefly) only in the countries that are culturally closest to us – Ukraine and Lithuania, but he did not conquer the American, British, French or German markets, which are much larger than the Polish ones.
Despite this, Polish viewers (and peasants, let’s not forget about our peasants) won the second season with enthusiasm, which is a rarity in Netflix’s approach. The work is said to be ongoing and the finished sections will most likely be ready in 2025.
