Polish Television has recently released several hit costume productions. Now the series “Matylda”, which had its premiere last Sunday, has also joined this distinguished group. What is its plot about and who can we admire on the screen?

Although “Matilda” could be watched for a fee for several weeks, the official premiere of the series took place only on March 10, 2024 on TV One. The first episode attracted a million viewers and everything indicates that it has a chance to repeat the success of the hit.

The action is set in 1879 in the Lublin region and shows the changing socio-political realities of Poland, dominated by the aristocracy. Its main character is Matylda Bilińska, the daughter of a wealthy landowner who was sent to Siberia during the January Uprising and disappeared without a trace. The 17-year-old does not agree with the existing order, constantly rebelling against it, which causes serious problems for herself.

Wanting to avoid the consequences of his rash actions, he goes to his closest family living in the countryside, asking them for shelter. There she accidentally meets a handsome doctor, Robert Boden, with whom she falls madly in love. Will their love have a chance to develop? We will find out about this soon.

“Matilda” is another costume drama, and the entire story is spread over 13 episodes. The title character is played by Maria Kowalska, and her lover is played by Kamil Szeptycki. Apart from them, the cast also included other actors of the young generation, including: Emma Gieżno or Klaudia Koścista. There will also be well-known names and real stars of Polish cinema, including in particular Mirosław Haniszewski, Dariusz Chojnacki, Ireneusz Czop, Małgorzata Buczkowska, Grażyna Sobocińska, Magdalena Smalary and Maria Maj. The series will be broadcast every Sunday at 8:20 p.m. on Channel One.
