“Kilerów 2-óch” directed by Juliusz Machulski is undoubtedly one of the most popular comedies in the history of Polish cinematography, which debuted on the big screens in early January 1999. The production is a direct continuation of the film released two years earlier, and its plot focuses on the fate of the title character, whom he created on screen.
Cezary Pazura reveals the backstage of “Killers 2”. This is how the iconic scene with Wąski was created
From time to time, the actor likes to recall memories of the productions that brought him the greatest recognition and opened the door to his career. Now he has decided to reveal the secret once again, revealing how the iconic scene from “Kiler 2” was actually created, in which he appeared together with Wąski, who played the role of Wąski. It turns out that although on the screen it looked as if they were walking through the streets of Warsaw together, they were actually shooting separately. – It’s not like I talked to Wąski. I didn’t even see him in the car – he said on his Instagram profile.
The scene was shot on Żwirki i Wigury Street, which leads towards the airport. Due to the fact that there was not much space in the car, instead of Kiersznowski, there was a camera and a tape recorder in the passenger seat. So Pazura had to not only play, but also control the image and sound while driving the vehicle, which required a lot of attention and concentration. – I did everything – he said. – I pretended to talk. I had to know my lines and those of the other actor. We talked to him dryly when we were in the trailer before the shooting so that I knew how he would play – he recalled.
In the sequel to “Kiler” Pazura didn’t just play. He had to do this while filming the scenes
However, this is not the end of the revelations. According to Pazura’s account, making films in the 1990s was a truly difficult and often almost feat-like task, especially in this case, because the scene took place in the very heart of the capital and the road traffic was not stopped for the shooting. – Nobody knows it’s a movie car. There’s only a guy inside, that’s me and the camera. And some lights so that Charming’s eye could be clearly seen. So it blinds you normally. You can’t see practically anything – he described.
He couldn’t even use the technique known to everyone and drive slowly, because the dynamics needed to be adequate to the plot taking place in the background. He had to work hard not only to complete his task, but also to ensure his own safety and that of other road users. – You go and talk to a guy. I slap him with one hand (…) And I talk to him like that. On the right side of the camera, because when I look at the other side of the camera, the directions don’t match – he said during the shooting, adding that it is often necessary to repeat the entertainment. – Then I go back to the base, they watch it on preview. Three, four doubles and home. This is how films are made in Poland – he summed up eloquently.
