It has not been possible. “Robot dreams”, by Pablo Berger from Bilbao, failed to win the Oscar for best animated film tonight in Los Angeles.

The award has finally gone to the hands of the maestro Hayao Miyazaki, who with “The Heron Boy” thus wins his third Oscar after winning this same award in 2003 for ‘Spirited Away’ and in In 2015 he received the honorary Oscar in recognition of his entire career.

In addition to “Robot Dreams”, the Japanese film competed for the award for best animated film with the great favorite, the American production “Spider-Man: Crossing the Multiverse”; “Nimona”, the Netflix fantasy adventure; and ‘Elemental’, the Pixar film.

Before the gala, the director from Bilbao declared that he was “happy”: “I think my smile has grown about several centimeters on both sides,” he said on the red carpet.

Berger says he doesn’t yet know what his next film will be, but he assures that at some point he will return to animation.

“Once you try it you can’t let go of the animation, because it opens you up to a new world of stories and for one reason or another they are the films that most resemble the director’s dreams, because you have absolute control of the shot. I will return to animation but I don’t know what will be next,” he concluded.
