Stars call for a ceasefire
“Artists for Ceasefire” pins were also shown on the red carpet by “Nimony” actor Eugene Lee Yang, director Ava DuVernay, director Misan Harriman (“The After”) and writer-director Kaouther Ben Hania (“Four Daughters”). They were also worn on the Grammy Awards red carpet last month by, among others: Boygenius members Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker. It is worth noting that in previous years during the Oscars, stars in a similar way supported, among others, Ukraine (blue and yellow ribbons) or the fight against the AIDS epidemic (red ribbons).
Last October, a group of 400 artists signed a letter calling on US President Joe Biden to demand a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas. The signatories included, among others: Ramy Youssef, Mark Ruffalo, Joaquin Phoenix, Cate Blanchett, Jon Stewart, Kristen Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Mahershala Ali, Riz Ahmed and Quinta Brunson.
