The almond tree, or rather the three-lobed almond tree, is a graceful and characteristic tree that owes its name to the shape of its leaves. Covered with fine and delicate hairs, their shape resembles almonds. However, they appear only after flowering. At the turn of April and May, the tonsil is covered with lush pink flowers that look a bit like roses. How long does an almond bloom, what should you do after it blooms so that it will be covered with flowers again next year?
Almond on the trunk. The requirements are not complicated
The three-lobed almond tree belongs to the same genus of plants as the peach, sweet cherry, apricot, cherry and bird cherry. It may have the form of a shrub, although it is more often found in the form of a plant grafted onto a trunk. It likes sunny, warm places, sheltered from the wind. It also needs fertile soil, but neither clay nor too sandy. Almond is resistant to frosts reaching even -30 degrees, but the bushes cope much better with negative temperatures. Grafted varieties should be protected before winter. The almond tree is also drought resistant. Older plants require watering only during drought.
Although the almond itself is sensitive to frost and even bitter frost, the same cannot be said about the buds, which may not bloom after a spring freeze. In April, the plant is covered with tiny flowers that look like tissue paper roses, dark pink at first and fading over time. The tonsil then looks like something out of a fairy tale. What to do to make it bloom like this forever? Remember to fertilize in spring and at the end of summer, and above all, to prune.
Why doesn’t the almond flower bloom and how long does the almond flower last? Don’t forget about this treatment
Almonds usually bloom from April to May, although under favorable conditions they may appear as early as the end of March. It usually blooms for the first time approximately 2-3 seasons after planting, although almond trees sometimes bloom faster.
Why isn’t the almond flower blooming? The reason for the lack of flowering may be an unsuitable place. Almond trees need sun, in a shaded part of the garden the buds on the shoots may simply not develop. In the case of varieties grafted on the trunk, it may also be frozen in early spring or caused by strong winds in winter. However, the most common reason why the almond tree does not bloom is the omission of pruning the shoots.

How and when to trim the tonsils? Mark this date on your calendar
Cutting will not only ensure the right shape and size of the plant. This is also one of the most important care treatments that will allow the plant to bloom again and protect it against diseases. When to trim your tonsils? It is best to do it right after the shoots bloom. This will ensure that it blooms again next season. You can wait with the treatment until June, when all the flowers have fallen and the leaves have already developed. However, do not delay the cutting, as the buds on which it will bloom next season form already in summer. Delayed pruning means less flowering in spring.
How to trim tonsils? Withered shoots at the height of 1/3 of the length of the shoots in the case of shrubs. Cut the almond grafted onto the trunk to a length of approx. 15-20 cm above the grafting site. Also systematically cut out the shoots growing from the trunk on which it is grafted, so as not to drown out the almond tree.
