“We have to continue daring more and showing the talent that exists in this country to the world,” says Gamboa about the meaning of this award.
Javier Gamboa He is 25 years old as a radio host. He was born in Tungurahua. He has been part of three international radio franchises that are located in Ecuador, Disney Radio, EXA FM Y The 40 Ecuador. He is currently based in Guayaquil and his voice sounds in Guayaquil in Radio Tropicana 96.5, where he presents Noticias de la Hora and the weekly Top Ten, is also on Like FM 96.1, in Quito and Radio Xtrema 92.5, in Ambato.
One of his most recent achievements is the Lavat award for best radio host, a ceremony that took place on Saturday, December 11. What does this award mean? “A giant commitment to the broadcasting industry, in Ecuador we have to continue daring more and showing the talent that exists in this country to the world,” responds Gamboa, who was also nominated in the dubbing revelation category. Live Action, a candidacy that he shared with the Ecuadorian announcer and voice actress Adriana Procel. The winner in the category was a Mexican.
Ecuadorian Adrián Khalifé nominated in two categories at the Lavat awards, which recognize the best of voice over and dubbing in Latin America
“In this case, it was an international jury that determined that the piece that was nominated for the Lavat award is the best in all of Latin America. These awards are something like the Oscars for announcers who speak Spanish. So it is certainly quite an important recognition. I do not take it as the best, but rather as a recognition of these 25 years of career in broadcasting, “he adds.
The Lavat Awards recognize the best of voice over and dubbing in Latin America. They were created in 2019 as a tribute to the Mexican José Lavat, the voice actor who voiced characters like Gandalf from The Lord of the rings, in Indiana Jones, the narrator of Dragon Ball, among other notable roles.
The next step after obtaining this recognition, says Gamboa, is to “go for more” since there are more awards that certify the announcer for his excellence, which are more in the commercial area in the United States. “There are some awards called the Sovas (Voice Arts Awards). There are some options to which it can be applied next year, but more than anything there is a commitment to continue reinventing radio and doing it with that magic that previously captivated large audiences because it is too precious a medium, that of the traditional media, I say, is the most immediate ”, he says.
Gamboa’s career began in 1996, when he applied at a station in Puyo, where he was based at that time. First it was only on Saturdays and then it went from Monday to Friday, with which he was gaining experience. “Everything is nothing in terms of talent if you do not dedicate yourself to cultivate and prepare it, I think that the new generations have that in their favor, that there is a lot of material on the internet to continue preparing and achieving better things,” he says.
Gamboa’s voice has also sounded in the United States in Maximum Delaware FM. He is also the artistic and creative director of Central de Radios Ecuador and represents international companies in which he creates image for radio.
As for the Latin dubbing, he has participated in the films Wolf squad for the pilot, soldier and teacher characters; in The Gift of Christmas (Don); and in The 100 Candles Game (priest, policeman and merchant). (I)
