The delivery gala of the 96th Annual Awards from the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will be held next March 10th and in a ceremony that will again be conducted by Jimmy Kimmel. Furthermore, this year, Spanish cinema has a special role, with two works as candidates for the statuettes.

Specifically, The Snow Society by Juan Antonio Bayona and the animated film Robot Dreams, by Pablo Berger from Bilbao, are among those nominated for the Oscar. The film about the tragedy of the Andes is up for two awards, best international film and best makeup and hairstyling, while Berger’s film is a candidate for the Oscar for best animated film.

Together with them, they present themselves as clear favorites Oppenheimer, Poor Creatures and Barbie, who arrive at the main course after a successful awards season and with several awards under their belt.

The 96th edition of the Oscars will take place this Sunday, March 10 and launches a new schedule. Traditionally, the most anticipated awards ceremony in Hollywood could be seen from Spain in the wee hours of the morning, but this 2024 the Academy has chosen to advance the schedule and will start the event at 7:00 p.m. EDT, that is, at the 00:00 hours on Monday, March 11, Spanish time. Therefore, those who want to see it live will have to stay up late but less than usual for this show.
