The world’s most famous pig artist is dead. Pigcasso was seven (or eight) years old

Pigcasso has had a short but intense career as a pig artist. The pig painter earned more from her paintings than many of us earn in regular work. Unfortunately, about a year ago she became seriously ill. Now her death has been announced.

Pigcasso, the most famous painting pig in the world, has died. Since 2016, Locha has been earning her keep as an artist. One of her paintings broke the world record for the price paid for a painting painted by an animal. Unfortunately, sad news came from South Africa. Pigcasso died.

Pigcasso, the artist pig, is dead

She was seven or eight years old. It is not known exactly when she was born, because Pigcasso had one goal at birth – to go to the slaughterhouse. No one cared about details such as determining whether she was born in March or April 2016. The pig was bought from an industrial farm and before its first birthday it was placed in an asylum in Franschhoek.

She also quickly became known as a paint lover – apparently she only destroyed paint and brushes or tried to eat them. Her caretaker, Joanne Lefson, decided to train the animal using a traditional clicker – every time the pig dipped a brush in its mouth and swiped it on the paper, a clicking sound amplified by the taste reached its ears. This is how Pigcasso was born.

Pigcasso has had artistic exhibitions in South Africa, the Netherlands, Great Britain, Germany and China. Her colorful “smears” achieved absurdly high prices, and she managed to break the previous record for the price achieved for the sale of a painting painted by a dog. “Wild and Free” was bought for, hold on to your chairs, £20,000 by a private art collector from Germany. Pigcasso also painted such works as “The Snowman”, “Mouse”, “Penguin” and “Prince Harry”.

Pigcasso has collaborated with the Swatch brand (she designed a watch for them), she advertised a nearby vineyard, the media wrote about her around the world, she appeared on TV… Her paintings are in homes, among others. George Clooney and Rafael Nadal.

Unfortunately, less than a year ago it was reported that Pigcasso was struggling with rheumatism. The pig had been half paralyzed for half a year, and on March 6, its death was reported. Sales of the paintings earned her (and her sanctuary) over a million dollars.
