Macadamia nuts come from the tree of the same name. It has been known for 167 years and grows in Australia. The nuts have a hard shell and a creamy consistency with a slightly buttery taste. It can be compared to the taste of cashews, but macadamia nuts are sweeter and saltier. Due to the original taste, not everyone may like them. However, it is worth buying a few pieces from time to time for reasons.

Are macadamia nuts healthy? They have one useful feature

Macadamias available in stores can most often be purchased without the shell. They are baked to make their aroma even more intense. Nuts have exceptionally high nutritional value. They are quite high in calories, as 100 g contain 718 kcal. However, this does not mean that they are unhealthy. There are 76 fats in 100 g, of which 59 g are healthy fats.

In addition, they contain 8.6 g of dietary fiber, 7.91 g of protein and 13.82 g of carbohydrates. They are a source of vitamins (B6, C, E) and minerals (potassium, magnesium, iron, calcium, zinc). Their biggest advantage is the fact that they do not contain cholesterol. Scientists from Pennsylvania State University conducted a study that proved that macadamia nuts can contribute to reducing the level of total cholesterol and the LDL fraction, i.e. the so-called bad cholesterol.

What causes high cholesterol? These products will help you beat it

Nuts can be included in the diet, but with caution. The recommended daily dose is approximately 30 g. It should be consumed primarily by people who have high cholesterol. The reason for this state of affairs may be poor consumption of processed foods, red meat and full-fat dairy products. The blame also lies in a sedentary lifestyle and lack of physical activity. The third reason is the use of stimulants such as alcohol and cigarettes. If you want to reduce your cholesterol levels, you should consult your doctor first. However, the whole process can be supported by consuming products such as avocado, linseed, oatmeal and garlic.
