Jan Englert turns 80 this year and can boast of a truly fruitful career. The actor played over 150 theater roles, over 100 film and 200 television roles. However, the artist is not thinking about retirement yet. He plays in performances and serves as the artistic director of the National Theater in Warsaw.
Jan Englert fell victim to fraudsters
His wife, Beata Ścibakówna, assures that the actor is still in excellent shape. “The great artist Jerzy Grzegorzewski once said that the character of Lear should be played by an 80-year-old actor, provided that he played it as a 50-year-old. And Jan meets this condition. He is in great shape and is not afraid of challenges,” she said in an interview. with “Your Empire”.
Despite this, Englert’s image was used in an advertisement for a blood pressure medication. According to WP, in the material promoting the drug, the actor allegedly talked to Dr. Krzysztof Bielecki about his serious health problems and his stay in the hospital. This conversation never happened.
The National Theater even posted a statement explaining that Englert had nothing to do with the ad. “Jan Englert does not know Dr. Krzysztof Bielecki, he has not met him, and Dr. Bielecki did not recommend a life-saving antihypertensive drug to Jan Englert. The name and image of Jan Englert were illegally used in advertisements urging recipients to purchase the above-mentioned drug,” the theater emphasizes.
“We reported the case to the prosecutor’s office”
Beata Ścibakówna assures that the actors will make sure that the fraud is appropriately punished. “Every person my husband’s age struggles with various problems, but the press has blown it out of proportion. Moreover, Jan Englert’s image was illegally used to promote some anti-hypertensive drug. Everything written in this regard is untrue! We reported the matter to prosecutor’s office,” he tells “Your Empire.”
This does not mean, however, that Englert does not struggle with any problems. In 2021, the actor’s biography “Bez applause” written by Englert and Kamila Drecka was published. In the book, the actor admitted that he was struggling with a serious illness. “Recently, I was diagnosed with what turned out to be a long-standing finding of an aneurysm in the cervical aorta. I was informed that at my age it can no longer be moved. (…) You just need to check it from time to time to see if it swells. Well, that’s it” – . Apparently, the authors of the ad hoped that Englert’s health problems would give credibility to their promotional materials.
