At the end of last year, the organization of the festival in Opole was hanging in the balance. After what happened during the last event, many Internet users and artists pointed out the need to depoliticize it. The president of Opole himself got involved in the matter, calling for a meeting with the new TVP authorities to discuss changes important for the event. “Hip-hop and alternative music should be a permanent part of the Festival program, because this is what the generation of contemporary Poles want to listen to today,” argued Arkadiusz Wi¶niewski on Facebook.
Festival in Opole 2024
The new authorities of Telewizja Polska decided to organize a new version of the festival with the participation of various performers: “We will see great artists who have wanted nothing to do with TVP in recent years. This festival will unite, not divide,” Tomasz Sygut recently explained.
However, this is not the end, because TVP plans to diversify this year’s edition of the festival with the Premier competition known from previous editions. Its participants will compete for two prizes. One of them will go to the winner selected by viewers’ votes. The jury appointed by Telewizja Polska will decide on awarding the second one. You can register to take part in the competition using the form available at www.festiwalopole.tvp.pl. The recruitment will last until April 14, 2024 at 23:00.
Recruitment for the Debuts competition is still ongoing, and two winners will be selected. The application period will last until March 24, 2024 at 23:00. This year, the National Festival of Polish Song in Opole will take place from May 31 to June 2.
