Fraudsters do not sleep and are looking for more and more sophisticated methods of obtaining personal data that they will use to take out a loan or reset a bank account. Recently, they have been impersonating telephone numbers of well-known companies, institutions and banks. Criminals call from a trusted number, pretending to be an employee of a given organization and inform the customer that someone is trying to take out a loan or loan using their personal data. Recently, our reader’s husband learned this the hard way. The woman decided to describe the situation online to warn others against fraud.
He received a call from the bank, but he was not fooled. He was told not to hang up
“I abhor fraud and whenever I see disturbing situations, I react immediately. Besides, I have eyes in the back of my head, so it’s hard to fool me. I thought that such a conscious life would protect us from thieves, but I was very wrong. Well, I’ll start from the beginning.
Some time ago, my husband sent me a rather disturbing text message at work. He wrote in it that he had just received a call from a bank where he did not have an account, informing him that someone had just tried to give him a cash loan of PLN 10,000. Well, when I read it, I swear the blood drained from my face. The husband was very surprised, but of course he continued the conversation. Finally, he asked why the woman introduced herself with a Polish name and surname, and yet she spoke heavily in Ukrainian. A female voice replied that she usually lives in Warsaw, but she comes from BiaĆystok, so this may be misleading. My husband already knew what was going on, because he had heard about such calls from his friends many times. The woman apologized and said they needed to keep the conversation on topic to stop the scammer. She asked several times about liabilities, bank accounts and personal data. Later, she asked to turn on the bank’s applications and provide her with some information. My husband didn’t bother and didn’t provide any information. When he wanted to hang up, the woman said that everything was being recorded and they had to settle it in one conversation.
Fraudsters target bank customers. They care about money
When my husband switched the phone to talk to me, the woman hung up. Fortunately, she did not receive any data that could harm us. We started calling the bank and reporting the fraud. We calmed down when we heard that no loan had been taken out for us and we could rest assured. My husband was lucky because he only lost time, but I think there will be others who stand to lose much more. Be careful.” Asia.
