Today we cannot imagine life without a washing machine. However, it is one of the devices that is largely responsible for high bills not only for water but also for energy. Which washing machine program uses the least electricity? How to wash and economically?

How to wash sparingly? One button will solve the problem, but that’s not all

As you know, the washing cycle in a washing machine consists of three stages: rinsing and spinning. Depending on the program, the first one consumes the most energy due to the operation of the heater. It also lasts the longest. This is where you should look for ways to reduce your bills. Some time ago, tiktoker @budgetingmumofficial shared with her fans her method of washing clothes economically. It turns out that you only need to do one thing before clicking “Start”. What?

Many devices automatically set the temperature to 40 degrees Celsius in the program. For less dirty clothes, 20 degrees is definitely enough. By reducing the temperature, your clothes will be clean and refreshed, and your bills will be lower. If you are worried about unwashed clothes, don’t forget about stain remover. You can, for example, add 2-3 tablespoons of baking soda to the detergent. Before you get up with laundry, remember not to overload the drum. Adjust the number of clothes to the program in accordance with the instructions included with the device. Remember that short programs usually work best with smaller loads in the washing machine.

Is the ECO program in the washing machine economical? Check why ECO mode takes longer

Today, a common sight on washing machines is a button with the ECO marking or a green leaf symbol. Although both the sign and the abbreviation may suggest that this function is related to ecology, in fact it is an economic program. This means that it uses the least amount of energy and water, without losing the effectiveness of removing dirt from clothes.

How does ECO mode work? In most devices, it lowers the washing temperature, while extending the entire cycle. Dirty clothes are washed in water at a lower temperature than indicated, but longer, so you get the same effect as standard washing. Contrary to appearances, the longer ECO mode does not consume any more electricity or water. However, this has its drawbacks. In some devices, this program can last from three to even four hours.
