she never hid the fact that she wasn’t very lucky in love. After a 3-year affair and a stormy relationship with the rally driver Andrzej Jaroszewicz, she fell head over heels in love with the actor and director, Krzysztof Jasiński.
Rodowicz found out by accident that Jasiński had a wife. It didn’t get in the way of their love
It all started when Jasiński cast her as Hilda in the famous musical “The Crazy Locomotive”. During rehearsals, sparks began to fly between the two, and with each subsequent meeting, she became more and more infatuated.
He fascinated me from the very beginning. Mysterious, piercing with a grey-green look, full of a sense of humor and extraordinary imagination. I was impressed. When our eyes met, we could feel sparks flying
– in Sławomir Koper’s book “Famous Couples of the Polish People’s Republic”. Even though the director had a reputation for being a trickster, it didn’t matter to her at the time. She also ignored the fact that he was married to the sociologist Krystyna Gonet, who designed the sets for his performances. She found out about his marriage by accident, when, during her beloved’s visit to Warsaw, she unexpectedly decided to visit him at the hotel.
I rushed into the room and there his wife was lying in bed. And what’s more, she started explaining herself
– she recalled in her biography “The Madwoman Dances”. This information, although it initially shocked her, did not stop them from doing so. Jasiński waited a long time to leave his wife, and he decided to take this step only when Rodowicz announced that she was expecting a child.
Rodowicz and Jasiński had a son and a daughter. After 7 years, their relationship became history
The artistic couple’s relationship quickly began to deteriorate. The first crisis occurred after the birth of his son Jasiek in 1979. Apparently, after giving birth for over 17 hours, Jasiński did not even care about how his beloved and the child were feeling because he was having a great time at the circus in Monte Carlo. Later, he also preferred the theater to family life, where he spent entire days and nights, leaving the parental responsibility entirely to Rodowicz, who even suspended her career for a while. – I was horrified. I thought it was the end of my career, especially since martial law was approaching and I lived alone in Ursynów in my first apartment, without a telephone, without furniture – she recalled years later.
Later, she returned to work, but her relationship with Jasiński continued to deteriorate. Due to the fact that the actor did not want to move out of Krakow, she gave up her life in the capital to live with him. However, she didn’t feel good there, especially since she couldn’t count on his help at all. The real crisis came in 1982, when the couple’s daughter, Kasia, was born. Then the artist’s beloved was at home less and less often, he even had a bed in his theater and avoided any duties. Rodowicz did not want to live like this any longer, especially since the children were chronically ill with upper respiratory tract infections.
Finally, the cup of bitterness overflowed. She packed her bags and returned to Warsaw. – Growing indifference, aggression. It was getting worse and worse for me. Krzysztof even tried to change, but mainly externally – she talked about attempts to save the relationship, which ultimately ended in failure, because after 7 years they decided to break up. She later found happiness with Krzysztof Dużyński, from whom she divorced in 2021. In turn, Jasiński became involved with a colleague who was 21 years his junior, Beata Rybotycka.
