The end of disco polo on TVP. Martyniuk doesn’t care, the Boys singer: Everything that’s bad is on Zenek

Zenek Martyniuk and Marcin Miller commented on TVP’s plans regarding disco polo. Both singers emphasized that they do not complain about the lack of work and the support of public media is not necessary for them. However, they have their comments about the idea itself.

In a recent interview, director Tomasz Sygut talked about his further plans related to the development of Telewizja Polska. He emphasized that he still wanted to focus on depoliticizing TVP, but noted that in addition to reliable information, entertainment and culture were also important to him.

No more disco polo on TVP. Stars comment

Anyone who has been following the public media in recent years knows that disco polo performers were the favorite performers invited to concerts, galas and large events organized by TVP. Zenon Martyniuk, among others, became a regular guest of Telewizja Polska. Tomasz Sygut noted that he would like to introduce a slightly different musical sensitivity to the public media. “For recent years, this television has had the face of Zenon Martyniuk, which was not accidental and which outraged many people. This will change. Artists with a slightly different musical sensitivity will return to TVP,” said the director of TVP in an interview with “Polityka”.

Zenon Martyniuk commented on Sygut’s words. “The question is why he only mentioned Zenek Martyniuk, since many bands performed on TVP: Boys, Classic, Piêkni and Młodzi – about ten from the disco polo industry. Why me? It’s the first time I’ve heard about it. I play hundreds of other concerts, and the TV ones “I have played for TVP can be counted on the fingers of one hand,” the star emphasized in an interview with Plejada and noted that due to the changes, he is not afraid of losing popularity or losing earnings.

Zenek Martyniuk and Marcin Miller comment on changes in TVP

Marcin Miller from Boys seems to be slightly more outraged by the situation, as he opposes linking disco polo music with the previous authorities. “This is weak. Now everything that was bad in TVP is blamed on Zenek and is his fault. I feel sorry for this man. I know him well, I believe that he never wanted to get involved politically or take sides. […] I also preferred not to speak out loud on political issues because I knew how bad it stinks,” Wirtualna Polska quotes the artist.

At the same time, he referred to New Year’s Eve events, which, in his opinion, should be celebrated “with a bang and a smile.” “If someone wants to have fun with music from the philharmonic, I respect that, I don’t see a problem. Sung poetry – absolutely. If the director decides that people will have fun with this type of music, that’s his business. I’m just sorry that he does his farm from public television. However, this is nothing new, we have seen it before,” adds the musician.
