Mirosław Baka appeared in the podcast of Kuba Wojewódzki and Piotr Kędzierski. During the conversation, the actor talked about, among other things, his youth, inspiring books and his mysterious cooperation with Krzysztof Nazar. In the 1980s, he played the main role in the play “Hamlet” directed by him, for which he received many awards. However, the success of the play came at the cost of great sacrifice.
Mirosław Baka fainted during rehearsals for “Hamlet”
Mirosław Baka referred to the stories circulating behind the scenes about what happened during rehearsals for “Hamlet” and at the party organized on the occasion of the premiere of the play. Reports indicated that the actor not only fainted in the theater, but also fell asleep under a table in the banquet hall. “I didn’t sleep because I was flooded, I slept because I was just so terribly tired,” the actor explained.
The biggest challenge for Mirosław Baka turned out to be cooperation with a rather domineering director. “He was such a demanding director, he was so obsessed with actors…” he recalled. One of such situations ended with the arrival of an ambulance. “I lost consciousness after the third general performance, I don’t even know at what point. The second time the ambulance came to my place was during the play “Richard III”, the same director,” he added.
Krzysztof Nazar died in July 2013. In the years 1995-2000, the director was the artistic director of the Wybrzeże Theater in Gdańsk. During his career, he staged several famous plays, including “Richard III”, “The Maids” and the operas “Les d’Amore” and “Gioconda”.
