According to experts from the Preply educational platform, 2024 will belong to employees. This means that all enterprises and institutions will have to take much more care of them. The company has identified the five most important trends in employment and working conditions, which – as a president, manager or higher superior – it is better to take to heart.

“Personalized development plan, supporting work-life balance and employee experience… These are just some of the trends that will dominate the HR sector in 2024, according to a list prepared by Preply. Conclusion? Companies will have to take better care of employees. Both sides will benefit from this. ” – we read in the press release sent to our editorial office by Preply – an online foreign language learning platform connecting over 32,000 tutors teaching 50 languages ​​in 180 countries around the world.

The press release mentions trends, but it is worth treating it as a signpost and a kind of barometer of the mood that will prevail on the labor market in 2024. Let us remember that a significant group of employees are representatives of Generation Z, who – unlike older colleagues – often pay much more attention to their rights, point out irregularities in the workplace and put development and mental health first. It’s worth remembering this if you don’t want to lose potential employees.

The first point is hybrid work models and international teams. “In 2024, HR departments will not be bored – according to a list of 11 trends in HR prepared by experts from the Preply educational platform. The first place was taken by implementations in the field of hybrid work optimization. In a study conducted in April 2023 by Pracuj.pl portal 28 % of Poles declared working remotely or in a hybrid mode. This trend is downward in Poland, but this does not mean that companies will give up hybrid solutions. On the contrary – as experts from Preply emphasize – this type of work model is gaining popularity in foreign markets. – we read.

Experts point out that there are many advantages of hybrid work – both for the employee and the employer. However, organization is key. “It is the responsibility of HR departments to implement appropriate strategies that will enable teams to perform their duties without loss of efficiency,” it was written.

This trend is directly related to the next item on our list, global talent management. Building international teams working exclusively online requires extraordinary flexibility, knowledge, openness and considerable creativity from HR employees to cope with challenges such as cultural differences, time zones and law. Such teams must not only work effectively, but also have a sense of community. And there will be more and more international teams in organizations

HR departments will come up with an increasing number of initiatives aimed at supporting inclusiveness in the organizational culture” – emphasize the experts of the educational platform.

Generation Z will not forgive these mistakes. “Only 35% say their employer cares about their mental health.”

The third point is also extremely important – we are talking about mental health of employees, which can be put to a severe test in many situations. A common problem, currently considered as an individual disease, is burnout.

“Employee mental health is growing in importance,” we read in the press release. “Another important trend in the Preply ranking is taking care of the general well-being of employees. Last year, Poland adopted many new legal solutions, including the so-called work-life balance directive and the directive on the work-life balance of parents and guardians of children. As specialists emphasize, traditional wellbeing programs, such as private medical care or sports packages, are the absolute minimum. Companies will engage in increasingly comprehensive initiatives, especially in the field of mental health and stress management. It is difficult not to evaluate this trend positively. In 2024, companies cannot miss it either individually tailored training to the needs, interests and requirements of a given employee “This year, there will also be an emphasis on employee experience and creating personalized employee development paths. Artificial intelligence, which is in able to recommend specific training based on the interests and professional ambitions of employees,” we read.

Language learning is high on the list of the most popular employer-financed training courses. More and more often, companies require their employees to know not one, but at least two foreign languages. English is slowly becoming less than enough. If a company is opening to new markets and already has proven employees, it prefers to invest in their education instead of looking for new candidates from outside.

There is also a move away from traditional annual evaluations in favor of Agile Performance Management, which serves to more precisely assess work efficiency in real time,” they say. .

The use of artificial intelligence will become popular in recruitment and onboarding. Many international companies are already using AI to recruit and select candidates. This trend will only grow in importance. Technology support in matching candidates speeds up the recruitment process while reducing its costs.
