The TVP “News” website has been down for many weeks. Now an apology has been published on it

After many weeks, the TVP “News” website is working again. You can read the station’s official announcement there.

Since December 20, there has been a revolution in the public media. The new authorities decided to immediately depoliticize, especially Telewizja Polska, where the opposition had not been allowed to have a say in recent years. “Wiadomości” disappeared from the TV screens, instead a new news format “7.30 p.m.” appeared. This symbolic separation of history with a thick line was, according to those in power, as symbolic as it was necessary.

The “News” page is working again. A statement appears on it

More than 100 people have been dismissed since the end of December, but the process of reviewing the staff and decisions made by the previous authorities is still ongoing. “We are in the process of preparing an audit, but almost every day we discover something shocking and something that – and I know this company well – I have never encountered before,” said the new director of TVP, Tomasz Sygut, in a recent interview.

Due to the change of the name of the main TVP news program, the “Wiadomości” website also stopped working. However, after weeks this changed. “News” will not return to TV screens, but the address is working again.

TVP published an apology on the “Wiadomości” website

However, after entering the website, no materials from the new or old TVP are displayed. Instead, we see a large white board with an apology. This is why the website was relaunched. “Telewizja Polska Spółka Akcyjna apologizes to Mr. Bartosz Sadowski for using, without his knowledge and consent, his work in the form of a photograph depicting Mr. Jan Kulczyk, published during the broadcast of two main editions of ‘Wiadomości’ – on February 21 and February 22, 2020. in the TVP 1 program, as well as in the electronic version currently available at: https://wiadomosci.tvp.pl in violation of the personal and property copyrights of Mr. Bartosz Sadowski,” we read in the statement.

The case concerns the events of 2020, when on February 21 and 22, a photo of Jan Kulczyk was used without the consent of Bartosz Sadowski, the photographer who took it. The artist sued Telewizja Polska and won the case in court. Danuta Holecka also apologized for the error in the issue of “Wiadomości” on December 3, 2023.
