The rarest ones, i.e. minted in only a few or a dozen copies, fetch dizzying prices at auctions, even several dozen thousand zlotys.

They were minted not in Poland, but in the Slovak mint, Kremnica, but it is not known exactly why and in how many pieces. There is no evidence of where they were minted.

The auction of May 2023 proved how valuable an ordinary 10 groszy can be. Adding the auction fee, 10 groszy was sold for PLN 38,940. This broke the record from 2020, when the coin was sold for PLN 29.9 thousand. zloty. Back then it was also about a 10-cent coin from 1973. Such reports tempt us to frantically search drawers, caskets, attics and basements. Does this make sense?
