To the surprise of many, the list of works submitted to the preselections also quite unexpectedly included… . The singer herself admits that she sent the song “I remember” to the pre-selection without the statutory deadlines.
Eurovision 2024. Confusion with Edyta Górniak’s song
Edyta Górniak was not taken into account at all in the last pre-selection race. She did not boast about her application and did not seek support from fans. Her candidacy became famous only when information about the scores awarded by individual jurors selecting the Polish team for the competition appeared. How did this happen? Górniak decided to explain:
At the last minute I decided to send it to the competition. Unfortunately, I did it too late – I exceeded the indicated dates and times. It doesn’t even matter because it wasn’t my first and main goal.
– she explained on social media. “I remember” was initially supposed to be “only” a song to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Edyta Górniak’s performance at Eurovision. However, the piece was not created for the purpose of submitting it to the competition. Górniak seems quite surprised by the fact that despite reporting outside the regular time, “I remember” was included in the scoring at all. She even showed screenshots that were supposed to prove that she sent the song a few days after the deadline:
I don’t know which score my song took part in if I didn’t submit it in accordance with the regulations. But still, of course, I would like to thank the jurors, she added.

The voice was played by Michał Hanczak, a music journalist of Radio Eska, one of the jurors of this year’s pre-selection. He wrote on social media that he had no idea why Edyta Górniak was misleading her followers:
I don’t know why Mrs. Edyta said this. I saw her story and unfortunately I have to accuse her of lying. It shows that she submitted the application on February 11. The jurors had access to the competition songs from February 8 and her song was already there – writes Hanczak.
Edyta Górniak’s result in the preselections is not impressive. The singer received only five points from one juror. She was placed at the very bottom of the pack, in 18th place out of 23 entries that received any points from the jurors.
