Hołownia and Prokop met over 20 years ago. Prokop was the editor-in-chief of “Machina” and closely followed the journalistic industry, in which there appeared a “peculiar editor” who was on his way to join a monastery. “I was intrigued by him. I suggested he write a text that was supposed to be a kind of provocation” – Plejada.
Prokop suggested that Hołownia become a sex worker and make a real-life reportage out of it. “He got out of it with daring and wrote a great text, for which I didn’t pay him,” he admits and explains that the magazine was going through a crisis at the time. Instead of money, the journalist took his new friend for dinner and that’s how their friendship began.
Journalists quickly understood the power of their duo. They got along perfectly in front of the cameras and were able to react immediately to each other’s jokes and taunts. “I have never met someone with such a fast processor as Szymon,” emphasizes Prokop. The television partners loved improvising together and “brazenly rejected all the conventions they tried to fit us into.” They did not agree to prepare the texts in advance.
How has the relationship between Prokop and Hołownia changed? They can no longer gossip freely
Prokop noted in a conversation with Michał Misiorek that politics did not change Hołownia, but journalists’ accounts look completely different today. “We can no longer go to a pub, sit in the evening with a glass of wine and gossip, as we did before,” he emphasizes. The presenter said that he was in the marshal’s office and had to put his phone in a special box that prevents recording.
“From time to time, people known from the front pages of newspapers came to him and offered him some documents to sign or wanted to talk to him. I sat there, ate a parliamentary cake and felt as if I was watching television,” Prokop recalls.
