Garage Band, a musical space for national artists is broadcast every Sunday on social networks

Having been part of the local music scene since 2008, Omar Dimitrakis noted the lack of spaces to promote emerging groups. Therefore, when he had to devise a Public Relations project as part of his career at the Higher Institute for Television Studies (ITV), he decided design an event with this purpose: to promote new artists.

After several years of absence in which he consolidated his work in the area of ​​Public Relations, Dimitrakis resumed this year the space for interviews and music to offer an opportunity to local artists to publicize their work.

It also prepares for May 2022 a new edition of the awards that will have 17 categories and whose recognitions will allow the winners to also promote themselves internationally.

“We have returned a little more mature in the sense that time has allowed me to generate contacts and labor relations and now Garage Band returns with the aim of projecting national artists also outside of Ecuador”, He comments. “The event in May will not only be an award ceremony, but also Thanks to the alliances I have in the United States market, for example, the winner of the Band of the Year category will be able to have a media tour in that country, which would represent a lot of money, but it is a cost that the allied agency of the United States will assume so that they can carry it out.

The audiovisual production company Dunn Films It is an essential part of the program, which bears the same name as the awards and which accompanies the project. “As broadcasts are now in vogue, we decided to move to all digital platforms, including TikTok, where I have noticed the great scope it has and I already have some strategies to start introducing Ecuadorian artists to that social network ”.

Dunn Films provides, among other things, the studio that artists visit each week. “We started three weeks ago with Luz Pinos, then there was Alex Eugenio, the romantic from La Perla, and tonight’s guest is André Farra”, Details Dimitrakis. “We started with a question and answer segment to learn a little about the artist’s current affairs, what he is working on,” he says.

And as a special gift for your guests, the production of the program recreates, with photoshoot included, a printed magazine cover for the artist, including your data and featured phrases.

“I ask them how many media covers they have had and there are certain artists who haven’t had one yet,” explains Dimitrakis. “But while we do the interview, without being expected, someone from the team arrives and gives them their own cover and many have been surprised. They are already leaving with their first cover with Garage Band so they feel motivated ”.

The space also includes the segment Garage Sessions, in which the guests perform their songs live. In addition, as a preview of the May 2022 awards, each one is asked to nominate two artists for the category. Scene Artists, which allows new names to emerge from the varied Guayaquil music scene.
