“Sami swoi” told the story of two families in conflict: Pawlak and Kargula. After the end of World War II, both families had to leave the Eastern Borderlands and settled in the Recovered Territories. Jan Pawlak and Władysław Kargul had been arguing for years about the land and Kargul’s cow, which caused damage to the Pawlak family. The dispute was calmed by the wedding of Pawlak’s nephew and Kargul’s daughter.

- “Up close, you look three years older” (Witia Pawlak),
- “Christ, people! Something must have happened here! Militia!” (Antoni Wieczorek).

The trilogy gathered crowds. The second part was watched by 8.5 million viewers and the third by 9.8 million. However, there were a few blunders that can be spotted when watching the film carefully. John never married, and his daughter was from an informal relationship. Despite this, Jasiek has a wedding ring on his finger. During the funeral of Eleonora’s grandmother, the soil brought from Krużewniki changed its color from light to black. The cat that Witia bought at the market is not the same cat that caught mice in Kargul’s barn. In the scene of the fight over the cat, apart from the underwear, there is a white sheet hanging on a line. One moment he’s there, the next he’s gone. When the family arrives to pick Jasiek at the station, the clock on the platform shows 4:30 p.m. A moment later the clock shows 2:30 p.m.
