The International Film Festival is underway in Germany. . Every year, the distinction is awarded to several, sometimes a dozen or so people from Europe who are described as “rising cinema stars”. In 2024, one of the winners of this title was Kamila Urzędowska, who played the role of Jagna in “DK Welchman and Hugh Welchman.”

Kamila Urzędowska, together with nine other young European actors, received the Shooting Star title at the Berlinale Festival on Monday. The “rising star” of the young generation of actors was appreciated for the role of Jagna in the new film adaptation of “Chłopy”. Already in December, we informed that Urzędowska was included in the Shooting Stars program, but now she has finally received the official statuette of the Berlin festival. The jurors decided that it was her Jagna that stood out from other acting roles submitted to the program.
Her performance is amazing. Kamila has a versatile talent and is able to bring to life her heroine, who is innocent, tenacious and persistent at the same time – one could read in the jury’s justification for Jagna performed by Kamila Urzędowska.
Stars awarded the title of “Shooting Stars” have special privileges during the Berlin Festival. Before the awards are presented, numerous meetings are held with producers, directors and casting organizers for new film productions. “Shooting Stars” then have the opportunity to gain not only recognition, but also get roles that will allow them to enter the wide waters of international cinema.
The 29-year-old actress returns to Poland with a star statuette – just like in previous years, among others. Agnieszka Grochowska (2007), Agata Buzek (2010), Jakub Gierszał (2012), Mateusz Kościukiewicz (2014), Zofia Wichłacz (2017), Dawid Ogrodnik (2019) and Bartosz Bielenia (2020). The Shooting Stars title was also proudly worn by such celebrities as Rachel Weisz, Daniel Craig and Andrew Scott.
