The 77th British Academy Film Awards were handed out in London on February 18. The two most important awards for best film and director went to Christopher Nolan and “Oppenheimer”. The best leading actress was Emma Stone for her role in “Poor Things”, the best leading actor – Cillian Murphy for her role as “the father of the atomic bomb”.

Michael J. Fox unexpectedly appeared at the gala. The film “Incessantly: The Michael J. Fox Story” was nominated for the award for best documentary production, but did not win the award. The winner in this category was the film “20 Days in Mariupol” directed by Mstyslav Chernov – an uncompromising document, an account of one of the cities most affected by the war in Ukraine.
The 62-year-old actor presented the award to Nolan’s “Oppenheimer” and although he was brought on stage in a wheelchair, he stood up while the verdict was read. The actor’s effort was rewarded with a standing ovation, and there were tears of emotion in the audience. In the recordings from the gala, we can see the most sought-after stars today paying tribute to the actor – Ryan Gosling, Robert Downey Junior and Barry Keoghan.
