‘Oppenheimer’ triumphs at the Bafta awards
Tape Oppenheimerbiography of the inventor of the atomic bomb directed by Christopher Nolan, was this Sunday the great winner of the Bafta awards for British cinema, winning seven awards, including best film, director, actor (Cillian Murphy) and actor of cast (Robert Downey Jr.), followed by poor creatureswhich ended with five.
At a gala held at London’s Royal Festival Hall, Nolan’s film, acclaimed director (Origin, Interstellar…) with dual British and American nationality, also won awards for best original soundtrack, photography and editing.
The winner for best leading actress was the American Emma Stone for her performance as Bella Baxter in poor creatures, directed by the Greek Yorgos Lanthimos. This film followed Oppenheimer in number of awards, with a total of five, for best actress, special effects, production design, costumes, makeup and hairdressing.
In the categories of best supporting performers, the awards went to Robert Downey Jr, who played Lewis Strauss, the head of the Atomic Energy Commission in Oppenheimerand Da’Vine Joy Randolph for Those who stay.
The area of interest (Jonathan Glazer) won the awards for best foreign language film, best British film and best sound, while Anatomy of a fall (Justine Triet) won best original screenplay.
The best animated film was The boy and the herontop favorite also at the Oscars against Robot dreamsby Pablo Berger from Bilbao, and 20 days in Mariupol won the award for best documentary.
